Controller Integration & Telemetry
VistaZ bridges the gap between legacy hardware and modern cloud infrastructure. While primarily used for visual inventory monitoring, VistaZ's connectivity suite (Cellular CAT-1bis, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth) enables it to function as an IoT gateway for cooler refrigeration controllers.
Bluetooth-enabled controllers traditionally require physical store visits to extract logs or telemetry. VistaZ transforms controllers into connected devices, enabling real-time remote monitoring without additional networking hardware.
Integration Models
Coolr offers flexible integration patterns that respect OEM intellectual property (IP) and minimize development effort. Controller data structures remain proprietary—choose how much logic resides on the edge versus the cloud.
Mode 1: Transparent Gateway (Recommended)
VistaZ acts as a secure data conduit with zero access to proprietary information.
How it works: VistaZ connects to the controller via Bluetooth, requests the data payload, and transmits raw binary or encrypted packets directly to the OEM's cloud endpoint via Coolr Cloud.
IP Protection: Coolr does not parse, read, or interpret the payload. The data passes through transparently.
Requirements: OEMs provide only the Bluetooth handshake and connection protocol. No data map or parsing logic required.
Benefits:
- Zero IP Exposure: Proprietary data formats remain opaque to Coolr
- Fast Deployment: Minimal integration work required
- Remote Diagnostics: Support teams diagnose compressor health remotely
Mode 2: Edge Intelligence (Parsing Enabled)
VistaZ can parse specific telemetry packets at the edge or in Coolr Cloud for partners who want to leverage the unified Coolr dashboard.
How it works: VistaZ decodes specific standard messages from the controller (e.g., standard GATT profiles or shared protocols) to provide immediate insights within the Coolr Platform.
Requirements: Sharing data parsing logic for specific fields.
Telemetry & Data Synergy
Integrating controller data creates a comprehensive view of asset health by combining visual intelligence (camera-captured data) with operational telemetry (controller sensor data).
Key Integrated Metrics
The following data points provide significant value when synchronized between the Coolr Platform and OEM controllers:
Temperature Logs
- Validation: Compare the controller's internal thermostat against VistaZ's ambient temperature sensor to detect calibration drift
Door Events
- Security: Correlate visual door-open detection (accelerometer/gyroscope) with the controller's magnetic reed switch data to identify sensor tampering
Power Status
- Uptime: Immediate notification of power cycles or outages
Advanced Diagnostics Management
Advanced diagnostics (compressor duty cycles, defrost intervals, error codes) remain under OEM control while Coolr focuses on inventory and merchandising insights.
Coolr Platform: Displays high-level status indicators (operational/warning/error states)
OEM Portal: Stores and manages deep diagnostic data. VistaZ ensures this data reaches your systems in real-time, eliminating manual data extraction.
Data Exchange Architecture
Coolr supports bi-directional data exchange to accommodate existing IT ecosystems.
Coolr to OEM (Push)
VistaZ collects data and pushes it to your specified webhook or API endpoint. This is the standard model for Transparent Gateway integration.
OEM to Coolr (Pull)
If you have existing connectivity but need visual context, the Coolr Platform can pull parsed status data from your cloud. This enables viewing inventory photos alongside your temperature graphs and other metrics.
